Night out on Walking Street and the neon lights were doing their thing. Red and blue and pink everywhere. I wore my yellow dress because I wanted to stand out against all that color. It worked. A few people looked. I pretended not to notice.
Walking Street is loud and busy and full of tourists taking photos of everything. I used to find it overwhelming but now I like it. There is something about being in a crowd where nobody knows you. You can be anyone. Or you can just be yourself and let the lights do the rest.
I carried my bag close and walked slow. There is no reason to rush on a night like this. The food stalls were open and the music was coming from every direction. Someone was singing karaoke badly and it made me smile. That is the charm of this place. It is messy and real.
I stopped to take a photo in the middle of the street with all the signs behind me. My hair was pulled back and my dress was catching the light. For a moment I felt like I was in a movie. Then someone bumped into me with a beer and the moment was over. But I got the photo. That is what matters.
