Wind in My Hair, Sand in My Shoes

Jenny-Samui · March 9, 2026

The wind was crazy today. I walked down to the beach and within two minutes my hair was everywhere. I had spent twenty minutes getting it right and the island just decided no. That is Samui for you. She does what she wants.

I wore my floral top, the one that ties at the waist. I like how it looks when the wind catches it. Some outfits only work outdoors. This is one of them. I put on my pearl earrings and my red lipstick because even a windy beach day deserves a little effort.

The sky was grey but I did not mind. Samui on a cloudy day is still more beautiful than most places on a sunny one. The water gets this dark green colour and the sand goes quiet because the tourists stay at the hotel when it looks like rain. That is when the beach belongs to the locals again.

I took a few photos near the pier. A man walking his dog stopped to look at me. Not in a bad way. Just curious. I smiled at him and kept walking. I have been looked at my whole life. At some point you learn to enjoy it instead of worrying about what they are thinking.

The wind never stopped. I gave up on my hair and just let it do whatever it wanted. Sometimes that is the best decision you can make about anything.
