I woke up late today and I am not sorry about it. That is one of the nice things about living on Samui. Nobody is rushing you. The island has its own clock and I have learned to follow it.
I put on my favourite leopard print top because it makes me feel good. Not for anyone else. Just for me. Sometimes I take photos when I like how I look and today was one of those days. Red lipstick, hair down, sitting on my couch with the fan on. Nothing fancy.
People always ask me what it is like to live on an island full time. Honestly, it is quiet. Not the tourist version of Samui with the parties and the full moon. My Samui is morning coffee, the sound of birds, the market down the road. I have been here long enough that the aunties at the market know my order.
I am 46 now and I feel more comfortable in my skin than I ever did at 20. Back then I was trying to figure everything out. Now I just live. I wear what I want. I say what I mean. I take selfies on my couch in leopard print and I do not explain myself.
If you want to know what real island life looks like, it looks like this. Ordinary and peaceful. And I would not trade it for anything.
