Labor Day on the Island

Happy Friday and happy Thai Labor Day. We do not make a huge fuss about it here, but it is a day off for a lot of the island staff and you can feel it in the way everything moves a little slower.

I have been working pretty much every day this week, so a slow Friday is welcome. Coffee in the morning, a few hours of photos, a long lunch, no real plans for the evening. That is my idea of a celebration.

The people who keep this island running deserve a real day. The drivers, the cleaners, the cooks, the bar staff. They are why visitors get to call it paradise. Today is theirs.
